Learn About Pre-blast documentation
Pre-blast or pre-construction documentations are a valuable and essential part of any project and are often required by local and state regulatory officials. A pre-blast documentation is an offer by the blasting contractor to demonstrate to the owners of property near an area of anticipated blasting that the activities are not damaging to the surroundings. The pre-blast or pre-construction documentation serves to document pre-existing cracks/defects that could become the subject of concern after the vibration-inducing activity begins. DRS technicians will contact neighboring property owners in advance to provide valuable project information, address homeowner concerns, and coordinate services to effectively document the pre-existing conditions. A technician will take photos of pre-existing conditions, note their properties and location, and send the completed report to the property owner. The documentation is a baseline for identifying any potential impacts on the building/structure.
A post-blast or post-construction documentation is a service that is conducted the same as a pre-blast documentation, only having taken place after the completion of the vibration-inducing activities. This service is utilized as a measure to ensure that no change in condition has occurred, typically used when working around buildings of historical significance or extremely close proximity. Post-blasting or post-construction surveys are not regularly used and are available only at the contractor’s request, requirement per local or state regulatory officials, or per project specification.
